Libraries in Hungary keep about 7000 incunabula in major part unknown to foreign researchers. The Catalogue, edited in Latin language and supplemented with a comprehensive introduction in English, is the first complete register of the incunabula of international value kept in fifty seven libraries in Hungary. Several unique or very rare pieces from the 15th century are first listed here.
Part I. is a bibliographic description of the incunabula in the authors' alphabetical order, with the location of the copies. Completeness or defectiveness of the copies as well as call-numbers of the respective libraries are dully marked. In Part II the incunabula listed by countries, places and presses. An alphabetical index of the non-latin printings the concordances relative to the most important incunabula bibliographies and a register of printers, translators and editors make the Catalogue a standard work of reference on incunabula in Hungary.
A concise introduction in English discloses all information on incunabula and collections in Hungary.
