The Dual Monarchy had 16 Army Corps Districts, of which two (VIII South Western Bohemia and IX North Eastern Bohemia) were based fully of Czech territories, two (II Lower Austria — Southern Bohemia and I Western Galicia, Silesia and North Moravia) incorporated parts of other provinces of the Dual Monarchy.
In the case of the Czech countries, the regiments of the regular army were raised predominantly from Czech or German conscripts, but there were also some mixed ones (Czech-German, German-Czech, German-Czech-Polish), with various proportions ofnationalities represented in a given unit. Czech conscripts and regiments were stationed in the Czech provinces, in other Austrian provinces or in Hungary. [...]
Also, inevitably, Czech and German regiments produced their stamps in peacetime. During the Great War regimental aid stamps were printed in great numbers.. Typically, they were printed in the language of the given unit. Generally, racially mixed regiments printed bilingual stamps.
