MADE IN HUNGARY gives a comprehensive picture of Hungarian industrial culture of the past 150 years. This anthology of the best and most beautiful Hungarian products includes objects ranging from everyday consumer goods to sophisticated tools of production, but the focus is primarily on items of general interest.
Examples include fine china, such as the Herend dinner service first ordered by Queen Victoria and in production today, too. Larger engineering-based products are the still-operating Budapest subway built at the turn of the century, the famous Kandó electric trains and Ganz railcars from the interwar years.
Since World War Two, Hungarians have produced the Go-pen known internationally as the Biró-pen; a pioneer of reflex cameras, the Duflex; and finally, Ernő Rubik's world famous Cube.
More than 60 quality products, presented chronologically, give a thumbnail sketch of Hungary's cultural history. Fifteen documentary sources have also been included to help bring major design trends into sharper focus.
