Stories, closely based on real events, about the life of a Jewish family in Budapest under Nazi occupation, and under communism. The author, a young girl at the time, survived because her family was protected by a temporary Swedish passport, the brainchild of Raoul Wallenberg. These stories are insightful, touching and informative. Some take place during the war; some many years afterwards. They all try to shed light on how our mind works, the tricks memory can play, and how even when death lurks around every corner, it is still possible to help others.
Judit Brody was born in Budapest in 1933, and now lives in in Oxfordshire.
